Japanese Bookmarks
Here are a bunch of sites in, or related to, Japan. Note that some of them are in
Japanese.
- J-List, a source for Japanese pop culture
items. Most of them are fairly cheap (in price; I don't know about quality, having never
bought anything there). It's run by Peter
Payne, who has a number of links for teaching in Japan, as well as some humor, etc. As mentioned
elsewhere, Peter is also the one who translated the first two Orange Road novels (One / Two.
- Some random Literature pages. I like
them, because there are a number of languages represented.
- Shodouka launchpad (an interesting means of
viewing Japanese web pages for use by people with browsers that fail to grok Japanese)
- AMPlus header proposal (very out of
date)
- weekly menu.html (some news briefs and
such. Much of this site is also out of date, but not all of it.)
- Bandai Corporation (Japanese/ English)
- Kenkyuusha (online Japanese/English
dictionary; in Japanese)
- Japan Times
- Ohayo-Sensei, a newsletter of teaching jobs in
Japan
- Manga
- Go, the fascinatingly simple game
frequently equated with Chess. The similarity ends with the fact that both require
deep thinking, however. Game play between the two has no likeness at all.
- Kikimimi, a site tracking
movies in Japan.
- David Notkin's and
Cathy Tuttle's "Japan Stories"
- Internet Guide to Japan Information
Resources (Experimental)
- Forest Linton's Japan Web Guide
- Japan Information Network
- UnionWay, who make Japanese language sets (fonts
and character input) for Windows computers.
- Japanese Culture Page
- A page for sites related to learning the Japanese language.
And I suppose I should point out this frightfully amusing fad that just hit Japan
around the beginning of last year. It's called a Tamagocchi, and it's a virtual pet. There is
even a virtual grave for Tamagocchi's here.
Chotto hen desu ne?
