using vim as xml editor
I really need to learn a more efficient way of entering xml, and I don't want to stop using vim, so here's a tutorial: http://www.pinkjuice.com/howto/vimxml/about.xml
TPF project pdfs

Here are some of the pdfs that are good to look at:

the tpf site at princeton http://www.princeton.edu/~tpf/publications.htm

this is really good, with links and jpegs http://cdsaas.u-strasbg.fr:2001/ApJ/journal/issues/ApJ/v590n1/57461/57461.text.html#fg6

easy to read, good pics http://www.princeton.edu/~rvdb/tex/tpf/StarQuest03.pdf

good pics of starshape masks and ringed masks. some math, ideas on how to optimize the shapes of the masks http://www.orfe.princeton.edu/~rvdb/tex/starshape/ms.pdf

good pics of elliptical mask and its psf http://www.orfe.princeton.edu/~rvdb/tex/wsc/Kasdin_WSC_TPF3.pdf

this is hard to read and I'm not sure I get it http://xxx.lanl.gov/PS_cache/astro-ph/pdf/0101/0101142.pdf

just the project parameters from derek http://math.harvard.edu/~bruff/mathe118/app_project.pdf

this is good, keeps everything togetha http://www.orfe.princeton.edu/~rvdb/tex/tpf/ApJOptimal.pdf

I need to start experimenting with rss and how I can tune into all the stuff that's going on, and find lazy ways to keep web pages updated.

MATH E-118 Intro to Wavelets with Derek Bruff
Here are some links to some wavelets rescources on the Web:
18.327 / 1.130 Wavelets, Filter Banks and Applications, Spring 2003 at MIT
This is a course at MIT taught by Gilbert Strang and Kevin Amaratunga. You can find lecture notes, slides, problem sets, MATLAB tools, and related books and articles from here. It might be a little over my head.
http://wavelets.mit.edu/~darshan/References.html
The 'additional references' section of the site mentioned above.
Wavelets as applied to diagnosing heart diseases
An article from www.cardiological.com The little wave with the big future by Paul Addison.
Amara's Wavelet Page
This is a Web portal to lots of other wavelet resources on the Web. It's linked to The Wavelet Digest, as well as a 'Beginner's Bibliography'.
PixInsight LE software for astrophotography
From the Pleiades Astrophoto site, this is the documentation for the PixInsight LE image processing software.
Computing in Science & Engineering
Home page for CISE bimonthly magazine.
WaveLab MATLAB software for UNIX/LINUX
Software from Stanford that may be fun to play around with.
Alyssa Goodman's Home Page
Prof Goodman works at CfA and seems to research and teach topics relating to the ISM, and one of her papers mentions wavelets (couldn't read it because it's PowerPoint). Maybe contact her.
Extrasolar Planets, Apodized Pupils
Paper on apodization in search of extrasolar planets, mentions Huygen's wavelets but I'll have to read more about it later.

The Second Post
Kinda struggling with the stylesheet stuff at the moment, it's getting to be silly. I'm really into red, and I want to make something kinda luxurious with it. Still clinging to the dark background-with-light-text thing. Oh well. Ivel might not like it.

I'm quite hungry now and so maybe that's why the colrs are vaguely reminiscent [sp?] of Chinese restaurant.

This is The First Post
I'm trying out this Blosxom blog thing just to see what all the fuss is about. I'd like to learn more about how to use this software to "feed" news-type data to some Websites I've been working on, such as Dusty Nickels or Harvard Lecture Demos, or even some future course Web site thing I may make soon. Should be fun.
